The Wendigo/Windigo also known as Wetiko is a supernatural hybrid creature with some human characteristics whose existence has not been or cannot be proved. It also can be described as a fictional evil spirit, native of the forests of Atlantic Coast in North America who has the power of possessing humans and making them monsters by maximizing their greed feelings and their other taboo behaviors. Such type of human is referred to as Wendigo psychosis. The major symptoms of Wendigo Psychosis are insane behavior, a powerful desire of human flesh and alarm of becoming a cannibal. The creature has been described as mythical and folklore. There is no evidence of him being in the real-world though it cannot be confirmed that he does not exist.
Weakness
This demonic half-beast cannot be killed by ordinary weapons like knives, firearms or any other straight method. It is said to be that only pure silver can give great pain to this creature. So, bullets made from pure silver or silver blade can badly hurt Wendigo and even can kill that beast if attacked several times with silver.
First Appearance
The first time Wendigo appeared as fictional narrative prose in the horror novella named Wendigo from The Lost Valley by the author Algernon Blackwood in 1910.
Relevance to Movies
The beast has been mention in some of Hollywood movies including Pet Sematary (2019), Pet Sematary (1989) based on the novel Pet Sematary by Stephen King published in 1983 by an American publishing company Doubleday. The creature has also been mentioned in 2001 released Wendigo, 2006 released The Last Winter.
