Corona Virus Origin?
The virus is zoonotic, which means they are spread between animals and people. It outbreak continues across the world, the one thing that has traveled as fast as the disease are conspiracy theories about its origins. There here have been allegations that the pandemic was by accident leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which was allegedly conducting research on bio-weapons. Claims have been made that the character of novel Corona Virus showed it was artificially engineered; providing support to the claims that the disease was not naturally caused
A media outlet in China named Global Times has stated that researchers in China had proof to confirm that Corona Virus might have “come from some natural recombination events among viruses in bats and other wildlife species” and was not created in a laboratory. They have made a claim that natural recombination was a variety of mutation common for viruses. “If the recombination has a high frequency, it suggests that the virus has a variety of host animals.
Other recent studies have stated that bats, pangolins and other wild animals could have been hosts for the corona virus. While scientists have been doubtful about claims that the novel corona virus was a result of bio-weapon research, the conspiracy theories have continued.
In February, US Senator Tom Cotton alluded to the Wuhan lab link. Cotton told the media outlet Fox News, “We don’t know where it (coronavirus) originated. But we do know we have to get to the bottom of that. We also know that just a few miles away from that food market (place from where first cases were detected) is China’s only biosafety level 4 super laboratory that researches human infectious diseases.” US Senator repeatedly pointed the finger at China of managing the flow of information about virus and being untruthful.
