She is named after Sridevi’s character Janhvi from the film Judaai. She was born around the same time the film released .

Talking about nepotism she once said, “The whole nepotism debate did make me question if I deserved to be in this position and I realized that the right answer to it is that I’m not. I do come from a place of privilege. But I have it, so what am I supposed to do now? I’d be the dumbest person on the planet if I didn’t do anything about it. So I need to ensure that I make the best of it and push myself to work as hard as I can. Only then can I justify that I’m worthy.”

The actress is half sister of Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor.

According to her, “Every woman has a different journey when it comes to beauty and they should be proud of it. They don’t need to follow anyone as no two things can ever be same and at the same time be unapologetic about it.”

She is often compared to her mother and is criticized for her acting all the time. On the matter she stated, “I guess it is hard for audiences and critics to view you as an individual when your whole life has been in front of your family. So I don’t really look at it as a pressure and consider it more as a blessing. I have been blessed with their experience and it would not be good for me to allow the tag of ‘lineage’ weigh me down.”

Jahnvi once said, “There can’t just be one female actor at a time in each group. Both of us have our strengths and weaknesses plus we bring different things to the table. There will be a group that likes her and there’ll be another group that likes me. So there is room to co-exist. As far as this whole competition thing goes, this started only because – I think – from a very sexist place in our society that was pitting women against each other.”
