The hybrid’ character!
Tyler would have left us way before, if the writers wouldn’t have incorporated the werewolf/hybrid storyline. His character originally started as a supporting role.

Alaric was indeed an important character in the series, and honesty I loved Matthew Davis for the character and cannot imagine anyone else playing him but in fact James Van Der Beek aka Dawson Leery was about to get the gig before Matthew but that didn’t work out and here we are! Thank God!
Brother and sister!
Jeremy is older than Elena in real life. I honestly couldn’t have imagined it! Nina is 6 months younger than Steven but in the show she played elder sister!
Damon Salvatore!
Wasn’t Damon’ character fascinating and Ian playing it was the cherry on the ice cream! Did you know almost all the male actors on the show were behind the role including Zach, Michael and Paul Wesley? They all auditioned to for the character of Damon but Ian was lucky enough to win gig!
Dalena= Damon + Elena!
Damon and Elena were couple in real life too! Both the actors dated until 2013 but got separated for some unknown reasons in 2013. Now Ian is married to another vampire Nikki Reed aka Rosaline from Twilight and Nina is enjoying her single life to the top.
The Bulgarian beauty!
Nina Dobrev aka Elena is Bulgarian and only moved to Canada after turning two. That pretty much explains her character Katerina Petrova speaking the language so well. Do you know her real name is Nikolina Konstantinova Dobreva?
A small treat by Stefan, Elena and Damon!
In the season two Isobel, Elena’ reel life biological mother’ number was shown on the episode 12. Fans didn’t miss out on the details and actually called on the number and the fun part was everybody who called on the number got a treat via pre-recorded message from Stefan, Elena and Damon. Damn! I missed it.
What would you choose, books or series?
There were much dissimilarity in the books and the show. Elena was blonde in the books and was more depicted as Caroline in the show to be precise. One of the friends of Elena named in the books was totally cut out from the show. There were many other supernatural Creatures in the Books.
Show’ ending!
The show was to be over within two seasons and you just could not imagine the end writers initially had for the show. The finale originally was to be ending with the two brothers dying with their affection with Elena and watching over her from the other side. That would have been so incomplete, I am glad they didn’t ending the show early.
