Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Pennywise the Evil Clown

Did you know Pennywise existed long prior to The Big Bang took place, in a dimension recognized as the Macroverse? When he landed on Earth, he went into a state of hibernation and woke up after the hibernation in the early 18th century in America. To keep himself alive he feeds on human victims prior to getting back to his slumber. As it wasn’t enough for him he formed a hibernation mock-up that allowed him to rise every 27 years to begin searching for new victims. According to the ventures he was the cause for the desertion of 300 settlers in Derry in the mid-18th Century.
  • Not many people are aware of the fact that though Pennywise may have got his origin from the novel ‘It’, he has also been featured in other books. The clown come into view in The Tommyknockers and was also talked about in Gray Matter, Dreamcatcher, and Insomnia.

  • All the writers originate their motivation from somewhere, and Pennywise the Clown was undoubtedly an inspiration. The antagonist side of the clown was taken by John Wayne Gacy, a serial killer identified as Killer Clown who came to the limelight in the late 1970s. Gacy used to dress up as a clown to slaughter teenage boys and was accountable for at least 33 crimes in the state of Illinois. King also took the idea for the character from both Ronald McDonald, and Bozo the Clown.

  • The clown may appear like he is an all-controlling body, but in reality, he isn’t all that. Stephen King stated in his book that ‘It’ has to obey the physical laws of whatever shape it takes on.     

  • From the title and story, many would think that the clowns in both the movies may be same but that isn’t true Tim Curry’s portrayal of the clown is diverse than the one in Stephen King’s novel.

  • Not many people are aware of the fact that Alice Cooper was supposed to play Pennywise before Tim Curry got the gig.

  • The evil clown can choose to only show itself to the people that it wants to torment.

  • You might have at some point wondered about the clown’s appearance but did you know that the bizarre hairdo of the clown portrayed by Tim Curry was his real hair.

  • The clown has the power of possessing people and making them do whatever he wants.
